Age Verification Policy
1. Legal Requirements
We comply with the Licensing Act 2003, which prohibits the sale of alcohol to anyone under 18.
By purchasing alcoholic products from this website, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and legally permitted to buy such items in the United Kingdom.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order where we reasonably believe alcohol is being purchased by, or on behalf of, a person under 18.
2. Royal Mail Age Verification Service
All alcoholic orders are dispatched using Royal Mail’s Age Verification Service, which requires:
- A face-to-face handover
- An adult aged 18 or over at the delivery address
- A signature on delivery
- Valid photo ID if requested under the Challenge 25 policy
Royal Mail will not deliver age-restricted items to neighbours or safe-place locations.
3. Challenge 25
If the delivery driver considers the recipient to appear under 25, they must request valid photo identification to confirm the recipient is 18 or over.
Accepted forms of ID include:
- Passport
- UK or EU/EEA Driving Licence
- Government-issued photo identification card (e.g. PASS-accredited ID)
If ID cannot be provided, the delivery will not be completed.
4. Delivery Rules for Age-Restricted Items
To comply with age-verification requirements:
- Delivery must be made to the address on the shipping label
- Delivery cannot be made to neighbours
- Delivery cannot be left in a safe place
- Another adult aged 18+ at the same address may sign for the parcel
- A signature is required in all cases
If no eligible adult is present or verification cannot be completed, the item will be returned to the depot for re-delivery.
5. Failed Delivery or Age Verification
If delivery cannot be completed because no adult is present or ID cannot be shown:
- The parcel will be returned to the Royal Mail depot
- Re-delivery may be attempted
- Additional delivery charges may apply for repeated attempts
- Refunds will only be issued once goods are returned to us in resalable condition
Where repeated failed delivery attempts result in damage, deterioration or loss, appropriate deductions may be made from the refund.
6. Customer Declaration
By placing an order for alcohol, the customer confirms that:
- They are 18 years of age or over
- The delivery address is accurate and suitable for age-verified delivery
- An adult aged 18+ will be present to receive the parcel
- They understand ID may be required
- They agree to comply with Royal Mail’s age-verification requirements
Misrepresenting age when purchasing alcohol is a criminal offence under UK law.
7. Responsible Use
We support the responsible sale and consumption of alcohol.
